I thought mine was broken or something.
so many reviews raved about the screen and the HD quality video that when i got my first one i thought it was broken. i exchanged it for another one and found out that there was nothing wrong with the first. sub par tiny screen and washed out grainy video output. its really no better than the video you get on-board most point and shoot cameras. as a matter of fact the video from my little canon 590is blows this thing away. the minoHD is good for quick uploads to the web and nothing else. i give it 2 stars only because of ease of use other than that its a waste of money. go buy a point and shoot camera for $150 and enjoy better video and still photos to boot.

Review of Mino HD
I love the point and click simplicity of this camcorder. Because it’s easy and portable, I find myself taking more video than ever. The quality of the video exceeded my expectations. I took it on a recent vacation with friends and after playing with it a little, they all want one.

It charges through any powered usb port which is great but, I wish I could charge it without a computer. I don’t want to have to take my laptop on every vacation. It has no light on it but the low light sensitivity isn’t that bad. Without good light, your video will look grainy but not terrible. One other thing I think it’s missing is the ability to take still photos. That would be great.

It’s very easy to transfer video to your computer or even upload it directly to youtube. The mp4 files are compatible with imovie for editing on a mac.

Needs an optical zoom
I am glad that you mentioned its 2x digital zoom as one of the things you don’t like. Not having at least some type of optical zoom really, really limits the uses for this. Probably even more than you would guess. I suggest anyone contemplating buying one of these to try to borrow one (or any similar one with no zoom) from a friend to try out before you buy one.
